This is one of the best summers of my life; I met a lot of amazing people and I learned a lot. I think the best thing about interning at LiveRamp is its mentoring-focused program. Interns can work on projects with their mentor’s support. One-on-one meetings every week gives me a good chance to get very honest and personal feedback from my mentor, which helps me grow as a person, as well as a software engineer. Code reviews help me write better code, and my mentor gives me a lot of suggestions about how to make my code clean and reusable. Both my mentor and team lead give me feedback very actively, not only did I learn technical knowledge and skills such as data processing, Hadoop and Cascading, I also learned how to work with a team well and communicate with teammates more effectively.
LiveRamp has awesome people and environment. LiveRampers love the company, and they are very passionate about their work. My coworkers are all willing to help and answer my questions. I worked with very smart coworkers and I learned skills from them everyday. I don’t have a lot of programming experience, but all the people here are willing to teach me and help me because I have the willingness to learn and improve. I can feel positive energy all around the office, it makes people want to go to work everyday.
Every employee is valued. Interns are trained the same as full-time people, and are given interesting and challenging projects to work on. For example, I worked with Cascading related projects to get different stats from the Offline Matching workflow, and the product team will make decisions based on the result I get. LiveRamp has events such as Hackweek, Hackday and SweepRamp, we’re able to find very valuable projects to work on, and a lot of ideas from Hackweek or Hackday became actual products.
