Publishers today face several threats to their business. First, there is the deprecation of third-party cookies coupled with emerging restrictions across mobile ad identifiers. Their data and technology stacks are often not set up to build, manage, activate, and measure audiences in a post-cookie world.

Secondly, publishers have historically lacked access to privacy-conscious solutions for data collaboration and enrichment. Lastly, there is the ever-present threat of the walled gardens, with whom publishers complete for advertising dollars from companies of any size across the globe. The fact that publishers continue to cut editorial staff or close up shop entirely reflects how challenging it is to win against the tech giants and build sustainable ad revenue models.

At LiveRamp, we see an opportunity to reverse these trends by developing publisher-supported advertising solutions that promote fairness and trust—not just for publishers, but also for advertisers and, most importantly, consumers.

Today we are pleased to announce the addition of Gareth Davies as Vice President of LiveRamp Safe Haven for Publishers. In his new role, Gareth will accelerate product and commercial development for LiveRamp Safe Haven, with specialized features for publishers.

Through LiveRamp Safe Haven for Publishers, as supported by our Authenticated Traffic Solution (ATS), publishers can now offer a set of critical use cases from custom audience ingestion, extension, and activation to advanced second-party data collaboration and measurement. For the first time, publishers will be able to meet and exceed the walled gardens’ capabilities and performance, and we are thrilled to have Gareth take on this important role.

“Joining LiveRamp, especially during this pivotal moment in our industry’s history, was too good an opportunity to pass up. I am confident that we will be able to leverage our technology, international footprint, and brand support to truly help publishers thrive in a post-cookie world, while simultaneously extending marketers’ performance across the open internet in a way that enables success for all, not just success for a select few,” Gareth said.

His extensive experience building privacy-first, media-agnostic identity frameworks will undoubtedly enhance our world-class team and product suite. Prior to LiveRamp, Gareth co-founded Truth{set} and Adbrain. He was a product specialist lead at Google, where he helped Google’s Media Platforms division build out its European footprint across the DoubleClick stack.
